The GRID, Grafisch Museum Groningen was the second stop of BunkerType’s journey in Holland. With the inseparable Toni Ortega we headed there to present BunkerType’s last project “The New Call”, dedicated to HN Werkman, one of the city prodigals.
After finishing my last project “The New Call” last November, I was honored to exhibit and present it in Madrid, at the Centro Cultural Conde Duque, within the Typomad Festival, and afterwards, toward January, to do a trip to Holland (Amsterdam and Groningen) where I was invited by the GWA and the GRID.
The New Call, BunkerType’s latest project, takes over from my previous approach to H.N. Werkman, and propose a new and more mature and personal reinterpretation, of one of the most paradigmatic works of the admired Dutch author: “The Next Call”, one of the boldest publication of the European avant-garde art of the interwar period.
After a month and a half, the exhibition on The Next Call -of H. N. Werkman- and its reinterpretations closes its doors. During this time Elisava School has been an excellent framework to enjoy the different exhibits; therefore the aim of these last lines is to express gratitude to the institution, with special reference to Virginia, Paul and Eva, for their confidence, patience and ubiquity among other things. Referring to the pedagogical sense of the exhibition “The Next Call, van H.N. Werkman. An interpretation of BunkerType” we decided to expand the collection of posters in order to, among other things, account for the editing and printing process in a short video made with the collaboration of Elisava Communication and Marketing Department. Afterward the final outcome, along with some pictures of the exhibition installation… The exhibition is open from January 23th to March 7th. Elisava school La Rambla 30-32, Barcelona.
