“23’56: Movable type in the digital age”. ATypI exhibition.

What is the point of letterpress printing in the XXI century? Probably none, but still, we can find persistent printers and stubborn typographers using this ancient technique inherited from Gutenberg and his successors over five hundred years ago. Arcangela Regis, Joan Pujagut and myself gathered a small representative view of “some fighters of this noble lead’s profession” work to show in the Congress of the ATypI of Barcelona, in Bau School. There is a significant agreement placing the origin of our alphabet in the evolution of the phoenician signs that, in one of its derivations, turned to greek and from there to the current system but, what would happen  if the origin of our letters could be explained in a different way? Werkman’s video exhibition and setting up.

Referring to the pedagogical sense of the exhibition “The Next Call, van H.N. Werkman. An interpretation of BunkerType” we decided to expand the collection of posters in order to, among other things, account for the editing and printing process in a short video made with the collaboration of Elisava Communication and Marketing Department. Afterward the final outcome, along with some pictures of the exhibition installation… The exhibition is open from January 23th to March 7th.  Elisava school  La Rambla 30-32, Barcelona.
